From Dmitry Chesnokov at Puck Daddy:
Q. I know that you get really tired of this question. But this series thus far is exactly what the NHL wanted: Crosby vs. Ovechkin.
OVECHKIN: I am tired of this… This is a game. Two teams are playing, and not just two players. What must not be forgotten are those chances that our teams create for us. Yes, we score goals. Yes, our names are announced as stars of the game. But if it weren’t for our teammates, the guys who create those chances, we wouldn’t be anywhere.
much more from Ovechkin, plus Sergei Gonchar, and Simeon Varlamov

What is this team concept you speak of? I’ll tell you, this is pure, unadulterated heresy and to speak otherwise is futile. The two best hockey players ever conceived are playing on the ice at the same time, on-on-one, mono e mono..and you are talking about teammates? The hell you say. Let me ‘splain something here. This isn’t just Larry Bird vs. Magic Johnson. This is Bugs vs. Daffy. The best rivalry, ever. Why on earth would anyone else, anywhere matter?
Actually, that is a great quote by AO. Maybe its a bit too much though for the media to understand that teams, not just Crosby or Lebron or Kobe or whatever superstar, win/lose team games. Who cares about the details though, right?

Puck Daddy comes through with another great interview. As Chief noted before, wait till other MSM take these quotes and apply the “as he told reporters” tag to it so that they don’t have to admit that a blogger was the source.
