The funny thing is, it was Jackman who spent all game prior to that hitting guys after the whistle, or in the one case whapping Hudler upside the head right after he scored a goal. So apparently Jackman can’t take what he tries to dish out. Boo-hoo.
I think it’s Murray, as much as anything, frustrated his club got their afts handed to them by a far superior team (with two of their top players out to injury even). And I also think that it’s frustrating for a lot of clubs around the league now that they realize this Wings team is edgier and a bit nastier. Samuelsson is a PITA to opponents, Drake and Downey drive teams batty, Franzen is a bigger physical presence, and Lilja is mean and nasty at times when he’s not turning the puck over in his own zone. I’m not sure teams know what to do now that the “get in their face” method they’ve used in the past doesn’t work as well.

It looked from behind to me. I’d call it a minor, certainly. Didn’t look like a major to me.

Andy Murray’s got to feel like a total dimwit after seeing the video of this hit. I understand that he’s just supporting his club, but that wasn’t even close to a 5 minute major. Jackman had a clear look, knew Franzen was right there and was going to hit him. He didn’t charge, didn’t leave his feet, didn’t get his stick, elbows, or hands up… so I fail to see what was wrong with the hit, and it seems everyone else does as well because I haven’t heard anyone in the media even comment on the play yet.
