Smith would’ve been a great fit with a Stanley Cup contender, but it appears like he’s going to hold down the fort for the Sens as they throw away the season in the hopes of landing Jonathan Tavares.

Come on Percy Weaver… I’m realistic, the Sens are no longer the powerhouse we were a few short years ago, and we’ll definitely have to fight for a playoff spot, something we haven’t done in a while (which may be a good thing)

But, to suggest this team is likely to compete for last overall??? Barring the sort of meltdown that happened last year, this team is not yet a Tavares candidate, especially with teams like the Islanders and Maple Leafs, who already can’t seem to wait til their 08-09 season is over.
