Jere Lehtinen Still Undecided If He Wants To Play

via Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News,

Winger Jere Lehtinen has not decided whether or not he wants to retire, and Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk said he doesn’t think Lehtinen needs to make a decision anytime soon.

Lehtinen, 37, has played out his contract, but Nieuwendyk said the two sides will probably keep the door open for Lehtinen to return possibly later in the season.

“Jere and I have talked a lot, and I think we both understand each other,” Nieuwendyk said. “There’s no reason for us to make a decision right now, and there’s no reason for him to make a decision right now. This is something that can be open-ended.”

Lehtinen is living in North Texas as his family has returned to attend school. He said he’s working out and that he will take his time on making a decision.
