Wow.  The Wings hits (no pun intended) just keep on comin’.
They are turning into the Avs of the past couple seasons.

nasty looking. looked worse than kronwall to me. you could see the knee buckle. he could be out for months and months, if not the season.

bad news.

Yup. Doan is smiling.

That puck that hit you in the face should’ve been moving 20 mph faster you ass.

sorry Mick, if it was “just a bruise” he would have been able to put some weight on it while being helped off the ice.

this screams torn ACL.  weight on the leg, hit from the inside, knee buckled.  this is going to be bad.

Thought that was an oxymoron, but after seeing the video, I understand.

Hard to tell if he targeted the knee. Don’t expect a suspension for that hit though.

Just a thought for the nay-sayers out there. The wings without SEVERAL key players are fighting for a playoff spot. filipula is back this month, williams in january, franzen by february. the olympic break is only going to help them. NOT TO MENTION, datsyuk NOR lidstrom are playing like the world class talent he is YET. you think playing with ovechkin, kovalchuk, malkin, semin, gonchar, markov won’t turn that around in a second? and does anyone really doubt lidstrom still isnt the best defenceman in this league? with kronwall and their FULL healthy roster (and possible moves by the deadline) i ask the naysayers a simple question: HOW are the wings NOT stanley cup contenders yet again?

Doan clearly wasn’t targetting Ericsson’s knee.  Doan is a bit overrated as a “clean” player IMO (quite frankly he’s pretty dirty at times) but in this case Ericsson’s knee wasn’t out, and neither was Doan’s.  Doan would have had to have been some sort of physics genius to have made that hit with the intention of hurting Jonny’s knee.

I do admit though it irked me when I saw Doan grinning on the bench at the realization they’d taken another Wing out, and I thought it was karma that he got drilled in the face by a puck on the bench shortly thereafter.  His grimaces of pain warmed me.

So did seeing Phoenix’s frustration at the realization they just got beat by basically the Grand Rapids Griffins.

+1 on doan’s dickish grin. +11 billion on pucks to his face. MORE OF THAT WOULD BE GREAT.
