via tweets from Chris Vivlamore,
I’m hearing more than rumbles that Kari Lehtonen has been traded to Dallas. Didn’t accompany team to Denver.
Deal for Lehtonen could involve defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy. Maybe a low-round draft pick.

Kari Lehtonen trade from Atlanta to Dallas has not yet been completed but it MAY happen later tonight. Stay tuned.
added 8:39pm, Turco in goal against the Blackhawks tonight.

added 8:43pm, via Matt Marstrom tweet,
kari lehtonen to the stars for ivan vishnevsky and a 4th rounder
added 8:52pm, Now the question is, Do the Stars move Turco, who has been playing very good lately?

No way in heck that Waddell doesn’t get a decent defenseman and a forward for Lehtonen. If not…he needs to be replaced.

A goalie who has question marks all over him and is a RFA at the end of the season for one of the best defensive prospects in the world and a fourth round pick?
What’s wrong with that?

Nothing, except the Thrashers aren’t getting that guy, they are getting a sub half point a game undersized AHL defenseman.
One of the best defensive prospects in the world? Good grief. That’s hyperbole poured over exaggeration seasoned with pure insanity.
The actual points are:
1) It’s a guy Waddell picked #2 overall.
2) If Lehtonen does have question marks, then it’s a blown Waddell top 3 pick. Again.
3) And even if he does have question marks, he’s an NHL starting goaltender. If you can’t get more than a mediocre prospect and a #4 for an NHL starting goaltender, you’re an idiot.

So, Waddell has managed to parlay a goalie he took #2 overall for Ivan Vishnevsky and a 4th.
Good lord.
I remain stunned he has a job as an NHL GM.
