Keep Them Or Trade Them

from Michael Arace of the Columbus Dispatch,
“If we think he or anyone else can help us get in, we’ll keep him,” Jackets GM Scott Howson said.
The question is, how close is close enough at the trade deadline? Only Howson can determine that, and he’s taking his time and keeping quiet. This is what we do know: Howson is not currently negotiating with Fedorov. Neither is he speaking with future unrestricted free agents Michael Peca, David Vyborny, Jan Hejda and Ron Hainsey. It is an indication that these players will be left to ply the market this summer. It follows, then, that any or all of them can be had in trade next week.
