I am taking a mini-break and probably the last one until next summer around this time.
I’d love to tell you I am going to some exotic location, but with the economy the way it is, especially in the Detroit area, I have decided to head to Beaver Island.
I will not, repeat, will not be taking any kind of communication devices with me. I am going the nature route and hope to enjoy the birds and the bees.
I will be leaving early tomorrow and will be back to my normal routine on Monday morning.

Thanks and if they signed Claude, I would NOT come back.

Is Sean Avery aware of this Beaver Island you speak of?
Enjoy it, sir. You’ve earned it.

Enjoy the wilderness, Paul. Let the fresh air and the sounds of birds singing, water rushing, and leaves rustling get you ready for the scents of beer and hot dogs and the sounds of anthems being sung, end-to-end rushed, and boards rattling!
Take care, sir, and soak up the natural world!

Ah, Beaver Island. Have a great time enjoying nature. I think it’s admirable that you can ditch all your devices for a few days. I would have a hard time doing that, but it must be quite liberating.

Have a wonderful, well deserved vacation!

Beaver Island is fantastic. I’ve spent some time there myself.
Beautiful place, and so many wonder two-tracks to bike or walk along, beaches to watch the sun rise or set from (depending on the side of the island), rocks to flip over looking for snakes, marshy areas full of dragonflies, quiet small lakes where you can hear the loons - but remember, “it’s always cooler by the lakeshore” and an island is nothing but!
People are very friendly - one of the things I remember most is the quick wave you would always give and receive in return from the drivers of oncoming cars. Extremely relaxing place - and a lot of history, too, and wonderful lighthouse on the island. If the night is clear, you can see so many stars it’s amazing - and the Milky Way as well as the lights of the mainland. On a clear day you can just make out the Mackinaw Bridge on the horizon.
Have a wonderful time.

Have a great time Paul. I plan to retire somewhere in the area of Good Hart with my better half. We spent so many summers in the area as well as the UP camping with our five sons.
We taught them all how to play euchre at the campsite when they were just wee lads. My favorite place in Michigan besides the Joe.

Emperor, I can’t think of a better place to get away from it all… Haven’t been there in years but from the website , it jogged my memory of what a little known gem it is. I hope it never becomes exploited.

Wait wait, you’re going to a place called Beaver Island to enjoy the birds and the bees…..
Are you going to blow our donations on 8 balls and highpricedhookers?! I mean, I wouldn’t have anything against that….
I know others were thinking it; I just happened to be shameless enough to type it.

I’ve actually got two friends from work who are off next week and going to Beaver Island. They’ve been raving for it the last couple days and I’ve been praying for rain. I will stop praying for rain now…

Have a wonderful and safe trip, Paul. I can’t recall ever having been to Beaver Island, even though it’s close to where my family used to spend vacations: Glen Arbor and thereabouts. Last time I was there was in 2003 and I walked the Sleeping Bear Dunes to the lake and back, all 10 miles. At the time I said never again; now I’m actually nostalgic to attempt the hike once more.
Enjoy the beautiful views; there’s no place like the northwest lower peninsula.

Smart man. It’s not a vacation if you don’t vacate.
