Marchment tried to take out Zetterberg tonight and just missed.
Tucker had a knee hit on Hecht and Lindy Ruff is not a happy coach (will open wmp audio).
Babcock was asked about the Marchmant move and said the game was very agressive, which is fine, but you have to keep the hits clean.

Is anyone really surprised?

I watched the whole 2nd period and half of the 3rd. That was a dirty game on Calgary’s part, and the refs didn’t help matters out any.
They showed on the cut out to go to commercial break, after the play had stopped, a Calgary player cross-checked one of the Wings in the back, knocked him down. No call by the refs.
The ticky tacky penalty they gave to Chelios at the end of the 2nd period. I saw a number of times the Calgary players use their sticks to take out the feet of the Wings players, again no calls. If that isn’t tripping, I don’t know what is.
To me Calgary plays that scrappy type of game like Nashville. But last night that was just dirty and the refs should have put a stop to it, but they didn’t. Makes me wonder if they really are going to continue to call the game the same in the playoffs. It looks like in some cases, maybe not!

He’s got a long, well documented history of that sort of thing yet the league consistently does nothing. That was a deliberate attempt to knock one of our better players out of the game and the possible playoff matchup should Calgary survive the first round.
