My favorite fight that I witnessed was at an ECHL game between the South Carolina Stingrays and Charlotte Checkers during the 1996-97 season. I believe there was basically a brawl going on, and Stingrays’ goaltender Jason Fitzsimmons (later became playoff MVP, then Assistant Coach, then Head Coach, now pro-scout with the Washington Capitals) skated to center ice to meet Checkers’ goaltender Ken Shepard. The two duked it out for what I remember being a long time, and of course both were ejected. I later was told (I assume this is true) that Shepards arm was broken during the fight…

The best fight I was at the game for was when Colton Orr knocked out Todd Fedoruk at MSG last year - one quick haymaker and Fedoruk was out.
Best fighter ever though? Nick Fotiu

The first game I ever attended was on March 29, 2003 in St. Louis, MO. I still have the ticket stub from that game. I was and will always be a huge Red Wings fan. On that day, Luc Robitaille elbowed Doug Weight in the head, Joey Kocur threw a chair on the ice, Brendan Shanahan smacked Tyson Nash in the face with a stick, and I cried because Legace was in net, and not Joseph, because Ozzie would’ve fought him.
It was without a doubt the greatest first game one could imagine. However, as a Wings fan, I was a little concerned for my safety. In the stands there was much fighting. They were fighting up and down the stairs, on the escalator. I heard a drunken blues fan yell at the top of his lungs to a group of what appeared to be 10 year old girls wearing red wings apparel that “the red wings suck!!!”
What an incredible game. I think that at the end of it, there were about 6 red wings left on the bench, and 5 blues. Really an absolutely incredible experience. Plus the Red Wings won, which is always nice…

Dave Semenko kicking the crap out of Tim Hunter in the 80’s was legendary at Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton… one fight in particular got dirty though… Semenko had Hunter in a sort of headlock, and brought his knee up and kneed him hard in the face, it was pretty vicious actually.

Well this finally made me become a member, of course Kevin was taken, so I’m Kevin from Pittsburgh still lol.
Anyway the best fight I ever saw in person was was Eric Godard vs David Koci during this preseason. It wasn’t the best fight ever but after Koci’s late hit on Gonchar that will have him out for most of the season, it was great to see that man get beat up. Not to mention it was Godard’s first fight in the Igloo and the crowd was going crazy.

probably the best fight i witnessed was the sabres and senators fight when chris drury got hit with a cheap shot and had his head split open. A huge brawl ensued and it was awesome. i know there have been better...a lot better but that game was incredible. especially since the sabres won it in a shoot-out if i am not mistaken. Awesome game, awesome brawl.
i loved how drew stafford was the new guy on the team at the time, and he got put on a shift with andrew peters and another tough guy.Right of the faceoff he didnt hesitate to jump in a take a few punches for his team. I think that says a lot about a player.
AWESOME

The best fight was Fischer’s sweet revenge on Hartnell. Just classy!

How about this comment… Knockout Hockey should NOT be selling copyrighted minor league or NHL material without permission from those leagues. Paul, fights tapes and DVDs are a big underground hobby of many hockey fans. However, there have been a few guys that have received letters from the NHL and worse stating the consequences for profitting from selling their material. True hockey tape/DVD hobbyists TRADE DVDs these days. And while there are a few that will sell, no one should spend more than $5-6 on a DVD that costs less than $1 to burn. I encourage anyone interested in purchasing a hockey fight DVD or tape to try the tape TRADE forums at hockey-fights.com or hockeyfights.com. You’ll find a better deal, better quality, and DVDs of specific guy, years, and leagues you like from guys that won’t try to gouge you on prices. Paul, I really encourage you to remove these guys from your advertiser’s section. Please remember the case of the gentleman from Detroit that was hauled out of his house for selling a Detroit Red Wings ceremony, possibly Yzerman’s.

Best fight in recent memory was last season when Dan Cleary stood up to Chris Pronger. Cleary took a bit of a beating, but it was great to see someone stand up to that goon, and especially Cleary who epitomizes hard work and determination.

A Canuck with a puck on the end of his stick...very very messy.
Oh wait…

Wings/ Avs stil the best fight ever. A second would be any probert/ Domi fight.

I echo Sig’s sentiments. The NHL is VERY quick to jump on people making money off their product illegally. Unless this is all minor/junior league fights (collections of which can be found for far cheaper in your average video store’s sports section), expect the copyright police to come after Knockout Hockey pretty quickly.

I’m biased, but for me, it’s any Bob Probert fight. The Domi rematch sticks out in my mind because of the sucker punch Domi landed to start the first fight. It was one of those sweet revenge bouts with Probbie settling the score. Props to Domi, though, for being one tough SOB and taking what was dished out.

J. Lemieux pounding Harold Snepts’ face in a Hawks/Blues game back in ‘90 or ‘91 was very enjoyable.
So was the infamous Bob Probert/Scott Walker (CHI vs. COL) bout in which the kid sought to make a name for himself and was dropped by three direct hits.
Coked-up Probert is the reigning TITAN.

I remember my 1st phantoms again was the playoffs againest hershey and there was a line brawl and neil little beat up the hershey goalie.
Also to reply to what Sig has said about not paying over $5-$6 for dvds and it doesn’t matter the price it costs to burn the time and the effort that goes into making a 2 hour fight dvd is also a factor cause i’ve at times spend 9 or 10 hours just to make a 2 hour dvd.
Another point is trading is and has been always find but if the person has nothing to trade ot doesn’t need what the other person has then at times selling is the only way to make a deal.

Fightguy42… remember, it’s a hobby. Not an industry. If you’re in it to make a buck, you’re in it for the wrong reason. Like I said, if you want to buy a DVD, buy it from someone at the two sites I mentioned. They won’t gouge you for taking an interest in a hobby. The DVDs offered on Knockout Hockey are junk anyways.
Posted by Sig from DC on 10/23/08 at 07:08 PM ET
I agree that they are always junk and the 2 sites you mentioned i agree with as well there are alot of good guys on them.

Didn’t witness it, I only caught the highlights. In fact, I didn’t get to see the whole game until years later. But best fight? That’s easy.
