Koci Didn’t Try To Hurt Green

Talked to David Koci briefly today. He’s sorry for the hit on Washington’s Mike Green. That almost certainly won’t stop a suspension of him from happening by the NHL (they probably won’t hand down a ruling until tomorrow or Saturday), but here’s what he had to say:

I like the physical style of play, but a player has to be responsible for his actions. This was a bad hit. This is not the first time Koci has had a borderline hit either. He rode Gochar hard into the boards in a preseason game that put Gonchar out for most of the season.

Of course he tried to hurt him. He just didn’t mean to hurt him as badly as he actually did.
