Koci Gets Fined For Hit On Green, No Suspension

from TSN,

A pair of National Hockey League disciplinary hearings has resulted in fines, but not suspensions.

David Koci of the Colorado Avalanche has been fined for his hit on Washington Capitals defenceman Mike Green, while Ottawa Senators winger Jarkko Ruutu has been fined for his hit on Buffalo Sabres’ Patrick Kaleta.

As I recall, the maximum fine is very small. There is zero deterrence in this decision. NHL discipline is far too heavily weighted upon injury outcome and continues to be a joke.

I didn’t think he would. He’s never been suspended and I believe prior to this the only game misconduct he ever got was for getting into three fights in a game.

I thought he wouldn’ve gotten a suspension.
I guess the NHL figured “Why bother?” since Koci plays less than four minutes a night.
Yes, no Avs fan has any clue why he’s on the roster or suits up for games.

The deterrent for some of these players that play less than five minutes a game and their teams should be a reverse suspension. The player should have to play at least ten minutes a game for the next five games or the coach is suspended instead.
