Kolzig Still Can Be Dominant

from Damian Cristodero of the St. Peterburg Times,

Ollie Kolzig said he seriously considered retiring after leaving the Capitals as an unrestricted free agent; that is, before the Lightning presented him with a situation that “made sense.”

Now the 38-year-old goaltender, with a one-year, $1.5-million contract, is talking about proving, “I can still be a dominant goalie in the NHL,” and that last season “was more an aberration than anything.”

continued plus Andre Roy and Chris Gratton will not be back with the Bolts…

“I can still be a dominant goalie in the NHL,”

I like Kolzig as a player, and even more as a person, so I hate to say this…

He’s gonna get shelled.

probably, but you gotta love that attitude.

He was always overrated....kinda like Mike Liut. Now he’s just awful.

An aberration? Dude’s been a sieve since the 2003-04 season, and even before then, he was a marginal goaltender; plus, he sulked during entire stretch run rather than supporting his replacement, Huet, yet now he’ll get to see more rubber than Daytona International Speedway. I can’t wait to see Rangers torch him for a 10-spot opening nite in Prague.

I can’t wait to see Rangers torch him for a 10-spot opening nite in Prague.

The same Rangers who were 12th in scoring in the East? The same Rangers whose highest scoring game last year was six (one time)? The same Rangers who have added 82 goals this summer, but lost 87?

Keep dreaming buddy.

p.s. Gotta love it that Jagr won’t be in the Prague game. Well played, NHL!
