from Allan Maki of the Globe and Mail,
His helmet was off and his jersey was gone, but somehow you knew the young man sitting on the far side of the Detroit Red Wings’ dressing room had to be Kyle Quincey.
For one thing, he looked all of 21, which is to say unscarred and wide-eyed. Then there was the grin on his face that made him look like a jack-o’-lantern on Halloween.
“I had a smile on my face the whole game,” Quincey explained while trying to avoid the media horde that encircled his celebrated teammate, defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom. “It was unbelievable out there. Those fans, the whole atmosphere, it was amazing.”

Maki’s a Flames sympathizer extraordinarre. No surprise there…
Quincey’s one of those guys who you’re absolutely sure is arrogant until you meet him. He’s very cocky on the ice, talking easily and playing with confidence both with the puck on his stick and when he’s slamming guys into the boards. He’s a lot like Jiri Hudler in that way—he’s a rookie who can stare down a 6’6” goon and laugh in his face.
Off ice, he’s just a genuinely happy-go-lucky guy who is polite and respectful. He’s a really good kid who has the perfect mix of athletic cockiness and a grounded sense of selt to balance talking back to refs and spending ten minutets just talking to any fan who wants to gab.
He’s as low-maintenance as can be, and as his work ethic backs his attitude up, and then some, I think he’s gonna hvae a long NHL career, mostly spent smiling.

lol, this is the most amazing, yet subtle, example of a way to use language to bias a journalistic article ever:
“it began with a bad decision in a game Quincey was watching on television.
With the Red Wings comfortably ahead of Calgary in the third period of the fifth game of their playoff series, Detroit defenceman Brett Lebda chose to hit Flames centre Daymond Langkow with a low and dangerous hip check. The two players crashed into the boards, and Lebda, who earned a punch in the noggin for his actions…”
That’s some serious revisionist history, right there.
