Lacking Respect

from TSN,
Miller left the game clutching his right shoulder after a big hit by Nashville forward Jordin Tootoo with just two minutes left in the game and the Canucks ahead 6-2. Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault was clearly upset by the timing of the Tootoo hit.
“I’m just trying to get the game over with,” said Vigneault. “I don’t know why things like that happen and why a player would run 100 feet with a game over.
“No respect for the game and no respect for the opposition. It’s unfortunate there are a few of that type in the league, hopefully the league will deal with it.”

“hopefully the league will deal with it.” good luck on that one. that means the league will have to deal with the entire ducks roster. not gonna happen.

Yah no doubt! In fact, let’s not even play with rules! Make a it a free for all!

It’s hilarious to hear Garrett whining about Tootoo hitting high, when Rypien nailed Koistinen in the head just moments previous to that.

Tootoo is famous for his cheap shots, his day will come soon enough.
Good game though, complete domination by the good guys.

I actually thought it was a fairly clean hit, he turned at the last second. And trust me, I think Tootoo is the dirtiest player in the league.

moore00 I agree 100% AND I am a nucks fan. It wasn’t perfectly clean, but I think it would have just been a big clean hit if Miller hadn’t have turned at the last second.
HOWEVER, the crosscheck to the chops of Bourdon was ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is the fact that Tutu (spelling intentional!) has a long history of this cheap crap.
But to be honest, he is probably just a more effective Matt Cooke, who I was a fan of.

Neither the Rypien hit nor the Tootoo hit was “illegal” in terms of the actual rules. Tootoo’s crosscheck to the face of Bourdon, however, is very much illegal. And what made it worse was when Tootoo went on to drop the gloves and punch Bourdon after the crosscheck while Bourdon was hurt. If you’re gonna drop the gloves, do it at the start. Don’t wait til after you see the other guy is hurt to start a fight.

it comical reading these responses. it was a clean hit. do want the nhl to turn into the No Hitting League?
its funny how people are calling Tootoo is dirty player but if he was on your team, you wouldnt be calling him a dirty hit.

As it always is reading anything you post FF, like: “...if he was on your team, you wouldnt be calling him a dirty hit.”
Just freaking hilarious!

No further discipline will take place against either player according to TSN.ca

Hit was clean. Thats not the point. 6-2. You dont come flying in from the blue line just to kill someone. Vigneault didnt say it was illegal, he said it shouldnt have happened, and hes right. And to top that off, Tootoo goes to crosscheck a guy coming at him with his gloves off...how is anyone defending him?

Eh. The Canuck put a big hit on, then Tootoo put a big hit on. Looks like they were playing hockey to me.

Ray Ferraro said, “Tootoo took a run from Seattle at Miller, no suspension?”
I’m don’t think that hit deserved a suspension. If I was a Canuck the next time I played against Tootoo he would pay. Nothing stupid, no, we’ve been there before. He would pay by every single Canuck player that was within 10’ of him targeting him.
Play him Ducks style, commit 30 infractions against him and maybe 10 will be called. Who cares. He pays. Period.
What he did to Bourdon deserved a suspension. How the NHL can justify that I do not know. Isn’t this the kind of crap that led to Moore/Bertuzzi?
