from CBC,
Hockey legend Guy Lafleur has been found guilty of giving contradictory testimony.
The former NHL star, who played much of his career with the Montreal Canadiens, was on trial this spring on a single charge of giving contradictory testimony during his son Mark’s bail hearing in 2007.
Lafleur agreed to supervise his son at the time and enforce a court-ordered curfew. But he failed to tell a judge that he drove his son to a hotel to spend a night with his 16-year-old girlfriend while he was under curfew….
Lafleur faces up to 14 years in prison.
Update 1:30pm ET (Alanah): Guy Lafleur’s lawyer was a guest on AM 640’s Leafs Lunch today, further explaining the consequences of this ruling for his client. Follow this link, then look for the interview titled “Guy Lafleur’s Lawyer” and you can listen to the full interview.

What is more amazing, are the comments by the readers of the CBC article. Nearly 10-1 in SUPPORT of Guy. For driving his son to have sex with jail bait, then lying to the court. No wonder they loved Clinton so much up north, he has a lot in common with many Canadians. It is called lack of accountability! Maybe this is a new perverted version of the hockey code, defend your players at all cost.

Way to paint an entire country with one brush because of some internet posts.
BTW, shouldn’t you be supporting Lafleur too, or do you only approve when the teenager is a relative?

I know its different in Quebec (where they like to boo the USA anthem) but letting your kid spend the night with a 16 year old is F-ed up. Isn’t his dopey kid 23 or something…? The reason he didn’t tell the cops is because it is WRONG! Figure it out….
