The Toronto Maple Leafs continued to streamline their roster for the upcoming season on Tuesday, placing forward Boyd Devereaux and defenceman Staffan Kronwall on waivers.
Update 2:08pm: TSN link has updated to also note other waiver transactions today, including San Jose Sharks defenceman Kyle McLaren. Canucks players Matt Pettinger and Jason Krog were also put on waivers today.

Considering that the Leafs are much more of a financial venture than hockey team, I think it’s rather fitting. In fact, I’d go as far as saying that the 2008-09 Leafs are leveraging their assets to produce a synergistic result going forward for MLSE.
In English, that means they hope to suck bad enough to get Tavares or some other blue chip prospect in next year’s draft.

Tough break for Boyd. I’ll always have a warm place in my heart for the “Two Kids and an Old Goat Line” with him, Pavel and Brett.
