The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Jeff Finger to a four-year deal worth $3.5 million a season, and goaltender Curtis Joseph to a one-year, $700,000 contract. Details to follow.

Jeff “Digits” Finger for 3.5million A SEASON? I would have believed 3.5 was the total over the four years. What is toronto thinking? Is this what ‘rebuilding’ means?
I can see cujo to backup toskala at the basement price of 700k, but 3.5 mil a season for a less than average D man is insanity, especially the depth Toronto has in the AHL on the blueline (plus schenn).

That has to be a mistake- $3.5 mil over 4 years sound much more reasonable…
And boy will the Avs suck next year!!!

That’s insane money for Finger. He’s now a multi-millionair living in the excellent city of Toronto. Unfortunately he still has to play for the Leafs

absurd - how’d heget twice what ex-teamate Sauer got? didn’t the leafs learn from the Mccabe/Kubina/Gill/Kaberle money pit issues of the last 2 years?

Who the hell is Jeff Finger? Cliff and MLSE deserve the middle finger for signing this guy to a deal worth 3.5 mil/yr. Give me a break! Rebuilding my ass!!!

Drafted high, but the general consensus is he’s only a top six D. Now he’s getting top four (or even top 3) money in the pressure-cooker that is Toronto. He’ll be under a ton of scrutiny and even more pressure to perform.
Maybe the Leafs see something nobody else is seeing, or maybe Cliff’s had a stroke.
