Life Goes On For Wayne

from Shawn P. Roarke of NHL.com,
For Gretzky, Monday night was not about the fallout from the sale of the Phoenix franchise, but rather a celebration of the career achievements of the Hall of Fame inductees—Luc Robitaille, Brian Leetch, Steve Yzerman and Brett Hull.
“It is what it is right now,” Gretzky said. “Right now, it’s just my time to sit back and enjoy my kids. You know what? The game is bigger than any individual or any person. Right now, it is just not a part of my life. It’s as simple as that.”
And, contrary to the speculation, he says he harbors no bitterness.
“No, not at all,” Gretzky said. “What’s there to be upset by? It’s the greatest game in the world. There’s nothing better than our sport. I’m very proud of it. Life goes on.”

do you think any hockey fan woke up this morning thinking “man, i wonder how Steve Moore is doing?”, or Jiri Fischer, or Konstantinov? sure they had misfortune, but how are they relevant in anything going on now?

How is Wayne Gretzky relevant to anything going on now?

Greg, do you honestly think anyone woke up this morning and said “I wonder how Wayne Gretzky is doing?’
Wayne Gretzky the player? People care. Wayne Gretzky the guy? No one cares. Wayne Gretzky the coach? No one cares.
4 amazing players and one of the best GMs in recent history were just inducted into the HoF, and instead of stories about them, the MSM wants to know how Wayne Gretzky is doing. How many times did they show Gretzky’s face during the HoF stuff last night? 25 times? 30 times? Honestly, no one fuching cares about Wayne Gretzky.
