Lightning Plan To Buy Out Prospal

The Lightning on Tuesday informed left wing Vinny Prospal that the team is buying out the remaining three years of his contract.
Tampa Bay general manager Brian Lawton sent a letter of intent to Prospal and his agent informing them of the decision. Prospal has 24 hours to decide whether to accept the buyout or request to be placed on waivers.
Prospal, who was reacquired from the Philadelphia Flyers before last season, signed a four-year contract worth $14 million last June. He has $10.5 million remaining on his deal.

Hmmm. Since Vinny will be collecting about $800k in “free” money for the next six years, I wonder if he’d like a shot at a Stanley Cup for about $1.25M next year?
Hey, Vinny, have your agent give Ken Holland a call. There’s a third-line spot on a great team that has your name on it.
