From TSN’s tracker:
Tampa Bay Lightning sign UFA forward Mark Recchi.
More soon.
Update 8:14pm ET: From TSN—
The Tampa Bay Lightning continued to pile on veteran support on Monday, signing forward Mark Recchi to an undisclosed contract.
Recchi, 40, split last season between the Atlanta Thrashers and Pittsburgh Penguins. He played in only 19 of the Penguins’ 26 games with just two goals and six assists. He has been a healthy scratch in seven of their last eight games before the team place him on waivers in December.

I hope Recchi can play goal; not sure how Tampa intends to keep the puck out of their net, but they should definitely be an exciting team to watch during the coming season

Tampa’s plan might seriously be to dress 16 forwards and 4 defensemen at the present rate.
Actually, if you stuck two defensive forwards with two offensive forwards on each line, and then had 4 solid defensive defensemen, that might just work in a crazy way… somebody call Mike Milbury!

At least they’ll lose games in an exciting way. Run and gun with Melrose at the trigger…quite the combination.

So that is 15 forwards for them as of now, right? There’s Recchi, Roberts, Hall, Ryan Craig, Lecavalier, St-Louis, Jokinen, Prospal, Halpern, Malone, Vrbata, Jason Ward, Ouellet, Tarnasky, and Stamkos. Add 6 defensemen (Ranger, Kuba, Carle, O’Brien, Lundin, and Picard, although Lundin and Picard could be moved down to the AHL if more D-men are signed) and 2 goalies (Kolzig and Smith) and they’re already at the 23-man roster limit. I would expect to see Ouellet, Jokinen, or Ward traded before the start of the season, because I doubt they’d trade any brand new signings.

Well ya know, a lot of people from pittsburgh retire to florida, maybe they are trying to get them to come to the games with the name recognition of 5 ex pens. Hell, just those people would give them the best attendance in years lol.

Two words for you: Dan Boyle. These owners have no idea what they want, other than to seem cool and exciting.
I do like Recchi though. He was able to bring a lot to Atlanta, both on the scoresheet and I’m sure in the dressing room. A good acquisition.

Way back when, my friend’s high school coach had an idea for defensive zone play that seemed so stupid it could actually work: three forwards and one defenseman in a diamond pk formation…with a fourth forward picking cherries up ice. They tried it for one game and scored 4 breakaway goals…but gave up 9 or 10 on the other school’s 60 minute powerplay. Needless to say, that strategy was retired. Maybe Len Barrie was at that game and liked what he saw, because I can’t otherwise explain what’s going on in Tampa.

uh-oh Steve, you’ve just uncovered Barry’s plan.
I guess they figure if you don’t have a real coach they why bother with a real roster.
