from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
“It’s unbelievable,’’ Lilja said. “I’d been having headaches for eight months. Then I see him for one day and headaches disappear for three days.’’
Lilja said there is no timetable for his return, but he has picked up the pace in practice. The next step is seeing how he reacts to contact.

You mean enough sacrifices been made to appease Jobu?

Just two short years ago, I would have never, ever believed I would be praying for “The Pylon” to return.
Please, hurry back soon.

My chiropractor changed my spine, neck, and body’s life about ten years ago.

Wow. Too bad someone didn’t think about this back in March or April. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that if he had been playing in the playoffs we’d still be the defending Cup champs. He’s not Dats or Hank but he makes a contribution.

Regardless of the hockey implications, it’s very good to hear that he is FINALLY feeling better. The offseason must have been miserable for him waiting and waiting and waiting for the headaches to let up, and they never did.

Better late than never! Come back soon, Lilja!

Wait, you people do know that chiropractic is based on bogus magic, right? This is probably partly the placebo effect and partly dumb luck that he happened to visit a quack around the time he would have started feeling better anyway.

I think the important thing here is he’s having long stretches headache free. Not the qualifications of a chiropractor.
Looks like the Red Wings have bottomed out. Things seem to be getting better all around.

He was really just missing Sammy…

It’s great to hear that Lilja is feeling better. I can’t imagine how frustrated he must have been.

Well, there are chiropractors and there are chiropractors. The practice certainly has roots in bogus voodoo crazy stuff and there are still quack chiropractors today who reject germ theory in favor of unscientific explanations for disease, which would be hilarious if people’s lives weren’t at stake. On the other hand, there are chiropractors who take a scientific approach to the study the musculoskeletal system. These guys tend to specialize in treating back and neck pain, the only area of chiropractic that appears to be effective in clinical trials. I’d be willing to bet that the latter type is what Lilja saw.

Yeah some people who call themselves chiropractors don’t practice anything like traditional (aka crazy) chiropractic. I tried to look up the practitioner Lilja used but can’t find much on him. The reasonable kind of chiropractic (without the subluxations, magic life energy, etc.) boils down to just back massage really, so that wouldn’t be used to treat brain injuries, would it? I figured this guy must be one of the woo-woo quacks if he’s treating brain injuries with back massage. It’s always possible I’m missing something, so if anyone can provide more information on treating post concussion syndrome with back manipulation, I’m always open to learning something new.

Brad May suggested Lilja go see Grant. Read more at the Detroit Free Press.

Muero, what is your problem? Grow up and stop looking for the bogey man. Your ignorance is stupefying really. The headaches obviously weren’t necessarily concussion related and more to do with misalignment. Quite the coincidence Lilja goes 8 months with headaches and 3 days of care and he starts to feel better. Strange. And it is obvious you are actually not open to learning something new, please don’t kid yourself.
