How true Mike…
from John McGourty at NHL.com,
“Under the salary cap, you don’t have extra guys anymore,” Babcock said. “The ‘depth’ of the organization is health. Scotty Bowman always had an extra line sitting in the press box. Those days are gone. As soon as you’re not healthy, you’re depth is gone. That’s why minor-league development of prospects is more important than ever. When they get brought up, they have to be ready to play your system.”

How can it be that McGourty makes Babcock appear professional and intelligent when our local sportswriters make him sound as if he is on another planet and doesn’t even understand the questions ?

This explains the Devil’s success as an organization. I’d be surprised if teams didn’t start employeeing assistant coaches that serve dual capacities with the minor and pro teams to convey systems across the organization. Hard to believe just last season some teasm did not even have their own AHL afffiliate.

HTT, John McGourty is a great writer and knows his hockey.
In a little defense for the locals, they are controlled not only by their bosses, but also by the Wings.
Just waiting for the day one of them breaks rank and really comes out with a piece we can sink out teeth into.

That day will never come. The Ilitch empire advertising budget keeps our amazing joint operating agreemant alive and kicking. KK is the only reliable source in the DET area.
