In the Boston Herald, Milan Lucic comments:
“In three years of junior we had only one guy break his nose, and he said it was the most painful thing he ever had,” he said. ‘I was like, ‘Aw, how bad can it be?’
“Well, after going through it, you know how bad it really is. It was probably the most painful thing I’ve been through. The fixing it hurt more than hitting the boards.”

Nobody would believe me if I told them that I believe that players need to wear visors, and ones that cover the nose (see: Dany Heatley, Pavel Datsyuk, not these “mini” visors that are becoming so popular) as well as the eyes, because it’s not just the eyes you’re protecting—or the orbital bones—it’s the sinuses, too. As Sami Salo can probably attest, man, you break your nose, and you go through serious sinus surgery, and you find out that you can hurt in parts of your head that you never knew had nerve endings. The sinuses are so unbelievably vascular that every little inch of their surprisingly large surface area has blood vessels and nerves, nerves, nerves, which is bad enough…the fact that, if you get conked on the nose and don’t set the darn thing, you not only get breathing problems, but also might have an increased likelihood of getting colds and staying sniffly because the infections can stay in those blocked passages and cavities….
Yeah, visors. For your nose as well as your eyes. I speak from experience here.
