Longest Serving Team Members

From Empty Netters at the Post-Gazette:

While reading Shelly Anderson’s story about Rob Scuderi today, we noticed a brief mention that Scuderi is the player with the longest uninterrupted connection to the Penguins organization.

So that got us to wondering how Scuderi’s time with the Penguins stacks up against the service times of other players who have been tied to their franchises the longest.

It also gave us an excuse make a list, and there isn’t anything we like to do more in life than make lists.

Canesice,

Wesley actually was traded by Carolina to Toronto in 2003, and re-signed with Carolina in the offseason a few months later.

Jokinen wasn’t drafted by the Panthers, he was acquired in a trade with the NYI.

right on Seth. I forgot about that brief stint…

How about Craig Adams then?

Drafted by the whalers, never has played for another NHL team in the regular season, though I think he did a preseason stint somewhere.. anyhow, it was fun looking it up!

Canesice,

According to his profile page on our Web site, Adams signed with Anaheim in August of 2005 but never suited up for the Ducks. He was then traded back to Carolina in October for Bruno St. Jacques.

Luc,

You’re right. Thanks for spotting that. When making that table, I pretty much copied the line before and forgot to change that from “Draft” to “Trade.” I’ll fix that ASAP.

The Panthers got Jokinen and Roberto Luongo in that deal from the Islanders for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha.

Wow what a bad trade. I wonder if there’s ever been a worse trade involving Roberto Luongo…
