Responding to Hockey Night In Canada icon Don Cherry’s verbal punching yesterday on the Fan 590, in which Grapes ripped Wilson for, among other things, “throwing his players under the bus,” Wilson took the high road.
“I have no comment for that,” Wilson said.
But when informed later that Cherry called him “pompous and arrogant, one of those Americans that know everything,” Wilson couldn’t suppress a sarcastic chuckle.
“Me pompous and arrogant? Wow,” Wilson said implying it was a case of the pot calling the kettle black. “I just laugh.”

You want a dirty little secret about the media?
We can be the biggest bunch of crybabies you’ve ever seen.
The war of words between the Toronto media and Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson is just the latest example.

I don’t get why Don Cherry is allowed to be on national TV. I mean c’mon. The man hates French Canadians just because they are French, and he hates Americans just because they are Americans, and he hates Europeans just because they are from Europe.
Why is it OK to hate these groups? I mean, could you imagine if he said he hated a player from Japan just because he was Japanese? Or a player from Africa just because he is African?
People would call him racist if he said things like that, but when its Americans, French, and other Europeans, its OK, and even funny in some cases.
The mans an ignorant jackass and his opinions should be kept to himself.

Cherry’s never gonna change his rascally curmudgeon rhetoric. He’ll keep saying it just for the kicks and I believe he doesn’t care who it affects.

kiss the media’s behind, just like you, when you
were coach.
