Lowe Has Had Enough

from TSN,

In a candid interview with Edmonton’s Team 1260, Lowe - who stayed relatively quiet each time Burke went after him over the last 12 months - finally let it all out.

“Where do I begin?,” started Lowe. “He’s a moron, first of all. Secondly, he really believes that any news for the NHL is good news. Thirdly, he loves the limelight and I don’t think anyone in hockey will dispute that. Lastly, he’s in a pathetic hockey market where they can’t get on any page of the newspaper let alone the front page of the sports, so any of this stuff carries on.”

Great stuff!
I am glad to see Kevin Lowe fight back and defend himself.
I eagerly await Burkie’s retort!

He’s an underachieving wanna-be in terms of success in the NHL. He won a Stanley Cup? Great. I’ve won six Stanley Cups...

Priceless, just priceless.

I was getting tired of the Burke-Lowe saga but only because it was always Burke yapping. Lowe has me interested again smile

I do wish he would elaborate on the Niedermayer acquisition.  Other than that, I am happy that he is sticking up for himself.  Lowe, love or hate him, is a good GM in my opinion… He made the right deals, especially for Pronger, it’s just too bad Pronger wanted out of Edmonton, otherwise that franchise would be in a lot better place.

You mean the kind of moron who would sign Todd Bertuzzi to a two year, $8 million contract...and then buy him out at the end of the first year. Is that the kind of moron you’re talking about, Kevin. grin

Well done. Lowe isn’t a great GM by any stretch of the imagination, but someone in hockey needed to call out Burke for being the mediocre GM he really is, that way the media will stop fluffing him up.

Holland, Poile, and Lamoreiladskfjlllo (sorry, don’t feel like spell checking) are all better GMs than Brian Burke, and that’s just the obvious ones. I liken Burke to Jay Feaster—made a few moves that were pretty nice and worked in the short-term, but screwed his team real bad in the long-term.

Yea, I’m very curious about the Niedermayer acquisition as well. I also want audio of the interview!

Go Kevin!

I’m just glad that he pointed out the Rick Nash et al contracts.  That was just plain stupid on Burke’s part; it was begging for a rebuttal.

You are the man, Kevin Lowe!  As much as I am sick of this feud, I still love this feud.  I hope Burke’s hair is fireproof because when he hears this, his hair’s gonna catch on fire.  Burke vs Lowe: The Firestarter.  I’ll take bets on Lowe if a GM fistfight ever breaks out.

And he’s so right about Anaheim’s team.  Wasn’t it pretty much Bryan Murray that built that team?  Nice shot Lowe

Lowe is quickly becoming one of my alltime favorite human beings in history.  If he says that Burke smells of elderberries to the press, it’ll be official.

So awesome.

My favorite is, “He’s a moron, first of all.”
He did question how many captains the Wings had, and we all know a team has only one captain.
Burke is a jerk.

All I know is that Scott Niedermayer signed as a UFA in 2005. New Jersey offered him alot more $, but Scott wanted to play along side his brother. I don’t recall any controversy surrounding Burke on this.

Great read, and I can’t wait to read the counterpoint from Burke. Soap opera!

The monologue was getting boring and shrill - a dialogue could actually spark my interest.

He’s a moron, first of all.

Nothing like getting the most obvious point out of the way right off the bat.  smile

Yes. The young talent that carried them offensively on their Cup run was all the work of Bryan Murray.
