Lupul Out With Spinal Cord Contusion & Concussion

Paul Holmgren at PhiladelphiaFlyers.com,

“Lupul has been diagnosed with mild concussion. However, the more concerning injury is that he sustained a spinal cord contusion at the level of his fifth & sixth cervical vertebrae, which are located in the neck area. It’s creating some tingling sensations in his hands. The X-rays are negative on any real damage. But right now we have to give Joffrey some complete time off. He’s going to take a couple weeks off from doing pretty much everything and then we’ll evaluate him at that point two weeks from now.”

Watch the video as Hatcher hit Steen of the Leafs and his own teammate, Lupul.

You don’t suppose they can suspend Hatcher for this, eh?

There was no need to leap into the hit like that. Should miss some games. That’s exactly the sort of play that doesn’t need to happen. It’s just surprising that it was so out of control that his own teammate was the one injured.

There is an example of a guy who SHOULDVE been collared and put on a backboard.  Not sure why they rushed him off the ice when he was on stupid street.  Hope he feels better soon, and I hope Hatcher (maybe the dumbest hockey player it would appear) feels horrible.

Hatcher was definitely head-hunting on that one.  Too bad he got his own teammate.  Karma’s a b***h, as they say.

Shouldn’t that have been a charging call on Hatcher? He skating pretty hard and then left his feet to hit Steen.
