Marc Crawford Talks Booing

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
However, Crawford thought the prevalence of new media — round-the-clock highlights packages, an endless parade of Internet information — has heightened scrutiny everywhere around the NHL. And in places such as Toronto and Montreal, the attention is so great as to become almost suffocating.
“Truthfully, I think it’s compounded, especially in hockey markets, by the volume of information that’s available — with blogs, with all the replays, those things become such a big fabric of hockey life,” said Crawford. “It’s a different environment now than even 10 years ago.”

I think a lot of Kings fans are wondering where the team would be with a better coach. Give a good coach a team with Anze Kopitar, Michael Cammalleri, Alexander Frolov, Jack Johnson, and Lubomir Visnovsky and see what would happen. Youth as an excuse for losing doesn’t cut it anymore.

Yeah, booing by your own fans seems to be a rising trend. The last couple years in NY, Rangers fans booed then-backup Kevin Weekes for really no other reason than he wasn’t Lundqvist. And they hate big defensemen who don’t play a physical game (but that’s tradition…long history there), so Tom Poti, and now Marek Malik and sometimes Paul Mara hear the boo-birds. Actually, Poti still hears them from Garden fans 2 years after he left…it’s kind of pathetically funny.

Either focus your booing on the opposing team, or, if you feel you must boo one of your one players, at least give him a chance to mess up enough to deserve it first. Anticipatory booing is just silly.

Yes, I definitely agree.
