The first is that I’m tickled that Martin is returning to New Jersey. The second is that Paul sits precisely where Nieder sat—in the far right corner of the Devs’ dressing room. The third is that Martin—like it or not—is the new Niedermayer in New Jersey….
Whatever the case, Martin now has the opportunity to prove a point that his agent made when Lou Lamoriello signed Paul in the first place.
The rep said that Martin—then a complete unknown—will eventually remind Devils fans of Niedermayer.
It seemed a preposterous claim at the time.
It sounds less so now.
