Maybe The Canucks Are Not A Good Team

from the Vancouver Province,
They’re too defensive-minded. They’re not defensive-minded enough. Alain Vigneault is too hard on his players. He’s not hard enough. They rely on Roberto Luongo too much. They don’t rely on him enough.
But for all the powerful intellects who’ve attempted to unravel the Canucks’ conundrum, the most obvious answer seems to have escaped their notice.
Could it be the Canucks simply aren’t that good?
It’s a radical proposition, we know, but in light of recent events perhaps it merits further consideration.

This is a fact. They are not a good team. I’m used to seeing the Wings have trouble with Vancouver. Even when Detroit was winning cups, you never felt good about them playing Vancouver (see the first two games of that playoff series). In both games this year, it never felt like the result of the game was even in question.

The Canucks are too defensive minded, absolutely.
It wont be long now before the masses are calling for AV’s head on a platter, when in fact it’s Nonis who should be doing something to fix this.
Its still early in the season and I am pretty sure either Grabner and some picks or Schneider and some picks could bring in a top 6 forward, although it now seems adding a top 6 forward wont really fix the problem.
Naslund has been invisible and for being the highest paid player and with a NTC, Nonis will have a hard time moving him, if in fact he did try to.
