McCarty Still Wants To Play

from Rob Parker of the Detroit News,

It was only fitting McCarty was at Tuesday night’s Wings 5-3 victory over the Flames at The Joe. McCarty played for both teams—he was with Calgary the last two seasons. A free agent, McCarty still loves the game and hasn’t given up the idea of playing again.

“I want to play, for sure,” McCarty said. “I’d like to give it a shot and catch on with somebody and play. I think I can still play, I still think I can bring something to the team—that intangible stuff, leadership, a spark.”

Well, I’d rather see Mac on the ice than Drake. I know Drake has tried to contribute, but on most nights he’s been a non-factor…or less (as evidenced by his team-worst minus-7 rating). And I’d be willing to bet, there would be a couple hundred more fans at every home game if Mac was on the team.

It was a sad sight to see D-Mac in the seats.  Almost felt sorry for the guy.  I’d like to see him in the Winged sweater again, but who to give up?

Kopecky or Drake.  Not Downey.  Downey rocks. Kopecky has only 3 assists and is a plus 3 in 20 games.  And as noted above, Drake is the worst on the team in plus/minus.  I like the Drake, but I like the team winning more.

Send him to Toronto, we could use some more Canadian heart and soul players in our European and American heavy lineup.
