from Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette,
One of the realities of living in Quebec is that the language issue colours every aspect of life.
That was evident once again Thursday as the Canadiens gathered at Laval-sur-le-lac for the team’s annual golf tournament.
The event was preceded by a press conference at which team owner George Gillett passed the torch to Geoff Molson, the head of a group that is buying the team.
During the course of the media free-for-alls that followed the press conference, Molson and team president Pierre Boivin were both grilled on the lack of Quebec players on the Canadiens’ roster. The team will start the season with only three Quebecers – Maxim Lapierre, Guillaume Latendresse and Georges Laraque.
