Mike Green Elbow On Michael Frolik Tonight

Green received 2 minutes for elbowing.

added 11:26pm, via the Twitter of Tarik El-Bashir,

Mike Green on his elbow to Michael Frolik’s head: “I didn’t mean to elbow him. I might have got it up. I thought it was my shoulder.”

If you missed the knee-on-knee hit Green took tonight, you can watch it here.  The knee hit was after the elbow…

Even if the knee on knee was intentional and/or dirty, which it doesn’t look like it, the evil part of me thinks it’s almost fair after what he did here. That’s taking a YES page out of the Pronger school of YES physics…er…hitting.

If NHL justice was… ya know, just… he’d get a game or two. Based on the lack of injury, I expect nothing will be done.

Ugly play. I’d want to see the whole shift before judging any potential intent. The guy said Green had been hit earlier in the shift and was retaliating. If so, that seems suspendible.

I completely agree with False Cause. Like they said in the video, it was one of the worst elbows we’ve seen all season, but since he’s a star and Frolik wasn’t injured, the worst Green will get is a fine.

Not suspending Green for such a blatant elbow, will once again send a message through the hockey world that the caliber of offending player and severity of resulting injury will determine the punishment, rather than an objective look at the offense itself.

Little in recent NHL history would suggest any objectivity when considering suspensions.  Unfortunately.  I remain optimistic that one day the NHL will hold itself to a higher standard when considering such actions.

I think it’s worse that Green had both hands on his stick when he elbowed Frolik. Having both arms gripping the stick can give the elbow quite a bit more force than if he’d just stuck his arm up.

I don’t know how anyone can not see this as anything but dirty.  I love green, but this hit was so blatent, there is pretty much no defence for it.  There was intent, and its pretty obvious that he got his elbow up on purpose and well ahead of the hit

“I didn’t mean to elbow him. I might have got it up. I thought it was my shoulder.”

I always wondered if maybe Mike Green wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but now he can’t tell his elbow from his shoulder?  I’m going to be significantly angrier when he doesn’t get suspended for this.

Green must believe it wasn’t on tape, or he believes we are all stupid, and he is smart enough to dupe the world. What a crack up quote! Funny, hey mikey, that’s a good one! Ya didn’t mean to elbow his face! Har har hee hee hee!

The elbow was blatant .

The knee on knee was incidental to the shoulder check that Kulikov threw right into Green’s chest. The only problem I seen with that hit was that Kulikov might’ve left his feet. But there was no intent to injure or any kind of extension of his leg to stop Green. The knees just came together after the big hit, the difference was Kulikov was the kneecap and Green’s was from the side, so his gave out.
The worst part about the incident was listening to Benanti & Laughlin cry, because when it’s Ovechkin everybody gets mad but this was okay.  Wah, Wah WAh. STFU!!
This hit was nothing like the ones that Ovechkin threw, he stuck his leg and knee out when he got beat going the wrong way. That absolutely didn’t happen here.

Wow.  any update on how his knee’s doing?  Lemme guess, he’s day-to-day with an injury anyway so he’s not missing any games he already wouldn’t have?

“I thought it was my shoulder”??

Really Mike?  Why don’t you and your douchebag fauxhawk go run headfirst into a wall, because I’m sure that’s how Frolick felt when you “shouldered” him.  Douche.
