Mike Green Talks About His 30th Goal

Mike Green talks with the crew from the NHL Network after scoring his 30th goal last night.
added 2:37, J.P. of Japers’ Rink is disputing a 30 goal scorer from the past…
per “The Big Book of Hockey Trivia,” Phil Housley only scored 24 goals as a defenseman in 1983-84. Mike Green is the magnificent seventh NHL defenseman to score thirty goals in a season, not the eighth.

If you follow the link to Japers Rink, Housely did score 31, but 7 of them were while he was playing as a forward.

You can’t use the “playing as forward” argument. As someone in the comments on the link pointed out, it opens a can of worms. For instance, what about forwards that play the point on the PP? Does that mean their goals count as goals by d-men, even though they never play as d-men or have to really defend?
And WTF is Mathieu Dandenault then, after all these years of switching?

I tend to agree, but it is worth noting.
The fact that he was flexible enough to play forward is itself impressive and also worth noting for it’s own appreciation.

Surprised he didn’t mention how he motivated his team by leaping into an Islander players head along the glass. Only two minutes for charging, but Witt would have gotten three games. Great to see he was rewarded for his efforts last night.
