From the CP via TSN,
Dallas centre Mike Modano broke Phil Housley’s NHL record for career points by an American-born player with two quick goals in the opening minutes of the Stars’ game against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night.
Modano’s two goals in the first 4:24 gave him 1,233 points in 1,253 regular-season games _ 242 games fewer than Housley played.

There was no gracious applause for Modano at the tank last night. He received an extended standing ovation for his achievement. As a Sharks fan, I was happy to be hockey fan at that moment. Well done Modano.

Modano got a standing ovation, just like he deserved. It sure didn’t take him long either, he scored on Dallas’ first two shots of the game.
