With nine days left before the NHL trade deadline, the Blue Jackets appear to be preparing for a fire sale.
Right winger Anson Carter is likely gone, with Vancouver, Pittsburgh or Carolina his likely destination. So is defenseman Bryan Berard, if the Jackets can find a taker.
But one player isn’t going anywhere. At least that’s how it looks.
Left winger Fredrik Modin is expected to sign a multiyear contract extension with the Blue Jackets later this week.
