From Bruce Dowbiggin at the Calgary Herald,
So far, Saskin has been as responsive as the Sphinx to most of these complaints. When pressed he fell back on the excuse of “previous practices” in the regime of Goodenow. Most of what Saskin and his allies—former president Trevor Linden, some players and a few prominent agents—have said is ridicule for those pesky old varmints such as Chris Chelios who’ve had the temerity to ask “where’s the money?” until they get a good answer. Chelios and Duane Roloson were said to be old and out of touch, reluctant to let a new generation take over the union.
This line worked well in the early days of Chelios’ questioning. Chelios is, after all, a notorious crank. But now that 18 months have passed without any revelations of substance from Saskin, the opposition has grown and reached critical mass.
