Morning Line

Yes, they may be looking slightly frayed around the edges these days, perhaps a shade past their dynastic prime, and the goaltending issue is one that continues to tail them doggedly, like a Dashiell Hammett gumshoe working on a case.

Still, you come away with the uneasy feeling that before all is said and done, the Wings will have their usual say.

“We’ve been a stubborn team this year,’’ sighed captain Nick Lidstrom. “We keep trying to make those skilled plays in between the bluelines.”

This made me laugh, because Lidstrom sounds like a dad with a frustrating bunch of kids that just won’t listen, no matter how often he tells them something.
