“He’s really excited to play in front of Nick (Lidstrom), Rafi (Brian Rafalski) and Kronner (Niklas Kronwall) and all those guys.
“He’s very competitive. He’s anxious to play good hockey.
“It’s not that they didn’t play good hockey in Pittsburgh but, every time he played Detroit, our puck possession and style of hockey he loves it.”
-Red Wings forward Tomas Kopecky on Marian Hossa. Read more from Dave Waddell of the Windsor Star.

It may be that no one has really seen how great Marian Hossa can be, under the right circumstances…
As long as Kopecky keeps his friend on the Wings, Kopecky certainly has himself a roster spot!

Kudos to Kopecky.
I’m often hard on the guy because I’ve felt he has underachieved at both ends of the ice, but what a huge deal by him.
Interesting that it’s a guy like Kopecky who helped bring Hossa in, and is even possibly putting him up for the year.

Steak and beer, nothign - with as much as Hossa is getting paid, he should chip in some rent, too! ![]()
Funny that they grew up so close to each other and are now on the same team.

Very interesting angle on the Hossa signing. And their friendship may well be a huge plus for Kopecky’s development. I think having Hank as a best friend really helped Pavel relax and excel…and vice versa for Hank. Maybe Marian’s presence will accelerate Tomas’ development as well.
But I’m always amazed at how many hockey players who make good money end up living with other players and their families. Hopefully Marian will at least pony up for a few steaks and beers while he’s at the Kopecky’s.
The more I read about Hossa the more excited I am about this coming season…which, by the way, begins four weeks and two days from today. But who’s counting.
