from TSN,
Goalie Evgeni Nabokov has been released from his contract with SKA St. Petersburg of the Russian KHL due to what the team is calling “family circumstances”.
The announcement was made on the SKA St. Petersburg website on Monday.
The former San Jose Sharks netminder was 8-8-5 in 22 games this season, with a save percentage of .888 and a 3.02 GAA. He played in the team’s most recent game on Friday, and was pulled after giving up a pair of goals against Nizhny Novgorod during a 5-2 loss.

I believe that since he played in another professional league that he would have to clear waivers if signed.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

So does this open the possibility for him to come back to the NHL this season? There is a free agent cut off date isn’t there… thought it was in Dec…
Though with those numbers, perhaps not too many interested anyway
