Nabokov No Longer In The KHL

Goalie Evgeni Nabokov has been released from his contract with SKA St. Petersburg of the Russian KHL due to what the team is calling “family circumstances”.
The announcement was made on the SKA St. Petersburg website on Monday.
The former San Jose Sharks netminder was 8-8-5 in 22 games this season, with a save percentage of .888 and a 3.02 GAA. He played in the team’s most recent game on Friday, and was pulled after giving up a pair of goals against Nizhny Novgorod during a 5-2 loss.

I believe that since he played in another professional league that he would have to clear waivers if signed.
