Nashville Not Happy With Calls Going Against Them

from the AP via ESPN,
The Red Wings took advantage of what appeared to be good fortune in Game 1 when offsides wasn’t called just before they scored the game-winning goal.
Nashville general manager David Poile was critical of the officiating in both games while talking to reporters on Saturday between the second and third periods.
“Just make the right call,” Poile said. “Between officials and supervisors, we can’t get the right call.”
Detroit coach Mike Babcock, of course, defended the men on skates wearing stripes and toting whistles.

Lidstrom gave Detroit a two-goal lead in the opening minute of the second period when Tomas Holmstrom could’ve been called for goaltender interference.
“When I really watched it in review, his feet were in the blue,” Predators coach Barry Trotz said. “According to the rules, you can’t be in the blue.”
I have a lot of respect for Barry Trotz, but Homer wasn’t even close to being in the paint. The replay and Doc’s comments on it proved that.
But, just for the record, Barry, an opposing player can be in the paint as long as he’s not interfering with the goalie.
Rule 78 Protection of Goalkeeper
The revised crease rule is intended to implement a “no harm, no foul, no video review” standard. The rule is based on the premise that an attacking player’s position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed - i.e., goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates more than incidental contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgement of the Referee(s), and not by means of video replay or review.
A smart guy like Barry should have known that.

At this rate, the Nashville Predators will soon be mumbling about bad bounces and officiating on a golf course.
Yeah, that was an awful bounce that led to Radulov’s goal.
If Poile wants to be sour about something, how about the fact that nobody on his roster who isn’t a lawn gnome has put a puck past Hasek?

Wings had bad luck on the Radulov goal. Preds had bad luck with the ref losing sight of the puck on Radulov’s no-goal. Squares it up, result is the same.

Prepare for the whistles to be tilted in one direction opening up Game 3 in Nashville.

I’ll give them getting boned on the no goal today but the goal off the linesmen’s ass was legit.
FSN Detroit showed a shot from across the ice of him clearly standing on the line when it hit him.
