Post Updated June 21, 2007 - *sticky* at top through the Draft
*regular live updates will continue below this post
The draft is set of June 22-23 in Columbus as this year’s crop of talent hits the stage.
Below are links to check out for everything from video to draft guides, with tons of in-depth analysis of this year’s prospects. There’s a lot of great media out there, and more will be added to this post as it becomes available. Take some time to check it out.
Army of the Ohio has an excellent summary of “Everything Columbus.”
NHL.com has put up a good selection of materials to browse, including:
- the order of selection for the teams
- articles on Kyle Turris, currently residing at the top of the draft list; and a flashback to Herb Boxer, the first U.S. born player ever drafted
- collection of video on all the top ranked prospects
- final rankings (in PDF format) broken down: North American skaters, North American goalies, European skaters and European goalies
- NHL Entry Draft blog
Also, at the STATS Blog, a good piece on previous years’ NHL entry drafts.
Check out The Fourth Period for all their 2007 Draft day coverage.
Dobbers Hockey has put together a popular Fantasy Prospect Report available for sale by download.
Television coverage: TSN’s Schedule. (more soon…)
Sports Fan Magazine breaks down the draft here. (and here is part 2!)
The AOL Fanhouse is also keeping on top of the action here.

Thank you, BethanyM85. I was going to add more later, as well. That’s a great suggestion!
Anyone else with good draft resources, feel free to add the links here. They’re all welcome.

I supplemented Michael’s guide with my own guide to what to do in Columbus this weekend away from the draft

Just read in the Journal de Montreal that Esposito already knows what car he wants when he gets the bucks: 1000HP Bugatti that tops out at close to 300 MPH and costs $1.5M. Really sounds like his mind is on hockey.
I hope the Habs stay FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR away from him.

btw, is this the first time the first round of the draft has been at night? I was assuming it was going to be Saturday at noon.

Hegemo: thanks for the link!
bcrt: I’m pretty sure it is the first time the opening rounds have gone off in prime time. Certainly every year I can recall it has started on Saturday

By now everyone should have seen the Caps and Bruins jerseys. But I came across this today:

Looks like its a set of prototypes for Wang to choose from. I’m guessing its Wang’s office because of the Chinese on the wall.
Observations of the differences in jerseys:
- Theres one at the far left with vertical piping (and now that I look at it, looks like its the Isles current 3rd and the white jersey right next to it is a white version of the Isles current 3rd)
- Theres one in the middle of the rack with orange lace ups instead of white
- Theres one hat on the top of the rack with more white in the NYI logo than the other logos
- Theres a royal blue jersey in the rack
- The vintage jersey that they wore once this year is off to the bottom right.
Think Paul can ask someone from the Isles organization about the new jerseys?

What, no shirts with Cap’n HighLiner on them?

Everybody check out Battle of New York (http://battleofny.blogspot.com) for a liveblog of tonight’s draft!!!!

What a fun, long day! Battle of New York had a record single-day number of visitors today. The only other day we had in the same ballpark was April 7th’s 12 hour liveblog marathon.
We reached 1,000 hits, which is like, 5 minutes for KK, but awesome for us. Thanks to Alanah and Paul and everyone here for your help.

That’s fantastic, Steve! Congratulations! And great work in all your draft coverage.

I hope Gainey and Timmins know what they’re doing because after passing on Esposito, a lot of the Habs crowd is ready to crucify them.
I like their draft so far: Solid D-Man and a Power Forward Project. Both needs.
People criticized Gainey and Timmins for the Carey Price pick and now those critics have shut up big time.

Although I missed the draft today, but saw parts of it last night, 2 things I would like to see happen, down the road.
Cherepanov to show those first 19 GM’s they made a terrible mistake passing on him, and Esposito to have success with the Penguins…..
A few players went early, a few late, otherwise this draft has been rather uneventful for the most part, besides Basillie’s woe’s….
