NHL Beats NCAA B-Ball

A little snippet today in Blog Maverick, the blog of Mark Cuban…

The NHL Beats College Basketball in the Ratings
The NHL on NBC beat College Basketball on CBS, 1.1 to .70 Is College Basketball doomed?  Does no one care anymore about college basketball?  Is the NHL on a resurgent climb? (This just in, NHL was up again to 1.3 on NBC) Is NBC just really good? Are both great sports in a crowded market? Stay tuned

Thanks to a KK member for the heads-up.

Finally someone offering up a valid comparison. Where is John Saunders with his American Idol comparisons when we need him.

And on ratings… I’ll be at the Canes-Leafs game tonight (I do live in Raleigh)... and btw, if you are in the greater Toronto area you can catch the game in HD at the cineplex - 25 of them to be exact. Head out and watch some hockey! (and bump up the ratings - hey Nielsen, starting counting the cineplex viewing audience in your numbers)

I have a man crush the size of an X-Box for Cuban now.

Obviously what we need now are a steady stream of articles on how college basketball needs to change.  Perhaps too many teams make the NCAA tournament, rendering the regular season meaningless?  Or maybe they should become the Gus Macker NCAA, and change to 3-on-3 action in half-court?  Let the idiocy commence!

I love Mark Cuban. If I were still a basketball fan, I would be sorely tempted to jump ship from the Lakers to the Mavs. :D
