NHL Could Not Find A Rule That Matt Cooke Broke

from Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe,
For the last three days at the GM meetings in Boca Raton, Fla., Chiarelli lobbied Campbell to discipline Cooke. Chiarelli said that Cooke, who has a pair of two-game suspensions on his résumé (questionable hits to Artem Anisimov and Scott Walker), qualified as a repeat offender.
Chiarelli’s efforts were for naught.
“What I tried to convince the hockey ops staff was to take it outside of the current rule,’’ Chiarelli said. “Use the repeat offender criteria and implement an infraction on an intent to injure. That infraction and the repeat offender should distinguish it from the Richards hit. They didn’t want to.’’

Does the Bruins have a goon in the minors they can call up the next time they play to beat the shit outta cooke, or “surgically check” Cooke in the head?

Yep he intentionally tried to Hurt someone, Well if that’s the Case Ovechkin would be suspended for the whole Season, Because he charges on each & every check he throws

Funny I don’t Here the Whiners complaining about Marco Sturm not being Suspended for Slew Footing Mark Eaton a couple season ago & tearing his ACL & taking him until this season to be the same Mark Eaton as before the Slew Foot

Caps GM George McPhee “We all wanted them to throw the book at Cooke but you can’t use his past history when his current hit was legal. It will be illegal next year but for now it’s legal so past history is mute”

NHL couldn’t find nothing because they already have a rule that protects him, instigator rule. NHL needs to apply AHL’s Holgren Rule
