In light of reports linking a number of Montreal Canadiens players with an organized crime investigation, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has determined that the only reasonable course of action is for the entire Detroit Red Wings roster to be non-suspended for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs. Following the awarding of the 2009 Stanley Cup to a far less deserving team, the Red Wings’ players and coaching staff will be dispersed in a league-wide draft consisting of all teams located in or near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. According to Mr. Bettman, “Sometimes in life, you just have to stand up for what’s right. Fortunately, I have yet to encounter one of those situations.”
