Why put up an older video?- just a test but read on hockey bloggers.
NEW YORK, NY / RESTON, VA (MAY 1, 2007) — The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that it has teamed with Voxant, the Viral Syndication Network (VSN), to distribute video clips of game highlights, bloopers, noteworthy moments and other news to thousands of websites and blogs through TheNewsRoom (www.thenewsroom.com). The clips, available beginning today, may be obtained for free and are accompanied by advertising, which provides revenue to content owners and sites where content is published.
NHL content available through TheNewsRoom includes:
· Weekly “Best Of” highlights featuring the best goals, hits and saves of the week
· Humorous videos or moments, out-takes, and bloopers
· Highlight packs from individual games
· Additional news content
VSN’s proprietary viral mashing™ technology allows copyright-protected content to be “mashed” from TheNewsRoom and legally embedded on websites and blogs, where it then can be redistributed to an infinite number of additional sites in a true viral distribution model. It also employs a tracking system and dashboard that record where the content has traveled on the Web and how often it is viewed, in addition to providing the ability to block content from appearing on inappropriate sites.
“NHL fans’ insatiable appetite for hockey news and information drives them to digital sources such as the Internet. Because of this fact, it is crucial for us to maintain our already strong online presence,” said Keith Ritter, President of NHL Interactive CyberEnterprises. “By teaming with Voxant, we are able to provide NHL content instantly to the thousands of websites that mention hockey every day.”
“Websites and blogs reporting on the NHL playoffs, their favorite teams and hockey in general, now have access to the best highlights and funny moments from NHL matchups,” Voxant CEO Jeff Crigler said. “They can not only legally embed licensed content on their sites for free from TheNewsRoom, but also make money from the advertising revenue.”

Interesting stuff, Paul - thanks for the pointer. I’m taking it for a spin over at my blog. It could be a useful tool to provide the context around something that’s being written about within a post…

Paul,
Starting tomorrow you will be able to create a customized feed of NHL/Hockey videos you can mash to your blog. You just need to register (so we can pay you!) and then you can create a Hockey Channel of videos you can mash to your blog. If you need help setting it up or are interested give me a call (703-650-8980) or drop me a note and I’ll help you set it up.
I’m pumped about your blog and hope we can help you cover the cup!
Jeff
