NHL Hockey Back In Quebec City?

from Sean Gordon of the Globe and Mail,
Today comes word that Guy Lafleur, the Démon Blond of blessed memory, is convinced NHL hockey could soon be reborn in Quebec City.
This one’s a bit like picking a scab for the author of these here lines. It’s taken years of therapy, but I now recognize that what I experienced in the 1980s, watching my childhood hero suit up for the Nords after retiring from the Habs in a huff - screw you Jacques Lemaire! - was cognitive dissonance.
But that’s all melted into the mists of time, the Flower is still the Flower, and says exactly what he thinks at all times and under all circumstances (well maybe not all circumstances, as in the sad episode of R. v Lafleur).
Lafleur has told the Journal de Quebec that he’s certain the league will soon come back to Quebec City, provided plans go ahead for a new arena.

On that note;
Cue the Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Florida, or Nashville to Quebec rumors!
I would have included Phoenix into that, but at this point I think it’s a given they are either going to Hamilton or Kansas City.

Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis in Quebec - but not playing for the Canadiens?
That would be interesting.

Originally from Quebec City, there is no thing in the world that i would love more than having the Nordiques(or whatever name they’ll have) come back to Quebec city.
There would be nothing better for the league than re-igniting the fiercest rivalry hockey.
But i think it is more complicated than some will think now. The Canadiens are now said to be the team of the ‘‘nation’‘. Mr. Gillet really turned this shit upside down and turned the Habs into a money printing machine. I am sure that the Canadiens organization will vote against there being a team back in Quebec city. There are way too many factors in this story now…
Molson bought back the team,while Pierre Karl Peladeau (owner of Quebecor) wished to buy the Habs then launch a Canadiens TV station and such. Now PKP has shown some interest into a project in Quebec city(no shit).
But before having an Nhl team back here, they have to assure themselves that the new Arena they want to build will have a steady income (like the Bell Center which has an assload of shows year-round).
Anyways, I am really looking forward to how this freakin’ story will shape up in the coming years!
