NHL Notes

from Stan Fischler at the Hockey Journal,

Outside of Dallas few realize that the unsung hero of the Stars’ first-round triumph over Anaheim was Stephane Robidas. Not only did he tie the score in Game Six but the defenseman endured a broken nose and never shied away from contact. This with All-Star defensemen Sergei Zubov and Philippe Boucher out with injuries.

After a dozen years in Ottawa, Wade Redden is surely going bye-bye. When all is said and done, the 31-year-old defenseman never fulfilled his expectations and was a goat in playoff games enough times that it overshadowed any of the good that he might have done. By the way, Redden ranked 30th in the league in turnovers during 2007- 08.
