Well said and spot on in regards to the lack of respect for the other guy…. there’s a time to run through someone and a time to back off just a tad.

I disagree.  As a hockey player, you should always be aware of your opposing players and be ready to be hit.  Sutter needed to have his head up and he didn’t.  If playing hockey is like having a gun in your hand, then playing hockey with your head down is like holding that gun in your mouth.  Would we get mad at the gun manufacturer if it happened to go off?  Of course not, that’s what it’s made for.  If Sutter had been aware of his surroundings, this wouldn’t be an issue and he wouldn’t have a bruised brain.  Weight didn’t hit him up high, the kid’s head was low, not Weight’s fault.  I feel bad for the kid, but this was not a cheap play.  He didn’t hit him from behind, he didn’t hit him with an elbow, he didn’t leave his feet, and he didn’t charge him…there is nothing wrong with this hit.  Ask Eric Lindros, at his retirement proceedings when asked if there was anything he would have done different, he answered “I would have learned to keep my head up.”  Let’s hope that young Sutter his lesson.

Head hunting is bad, however, the reality is that Sutter has shown the same disregard for other players - skating end-to-end to hit Alexei Cherepanov in the head during the Super Series. 
It comes down to this, sometimes you have to be aware that hockey is a game played on a sheet of ice, players skate on razor sharp blades, are extremely strong, carry a stick which is a weapon, there are vulcanized rubber pucks flying at 100mph.
You have to be aware of your surroundings at all times
